We are looking for help preparing our technology platform as we expand outside of the Netherlands.

Role

As a senior full-stack developer, you ship features and make the team more efficient across the entire stack. In the near term you will work on increasing throughput of our data-processing pipeline, API observability and other quality-of-life improvements to Ops in DevOps, and revenue generation through increasing in-app upsell opportunities.

You are a part of a small product team in a small company. You know everyone by name and by their area of responsibility. You understand the business. You talk to stakeholders directly. You support our partners in all their technical queries. You make any decision you see fit based on what you know about the company and our plans after aligning with the team.

In our 20-person team, you will literally sit between sales and customer support with full transparency into the state of the business. Your code helps us run the business and sell; mistakes blow up support phone lines.

You

You solve customer problems instead of ticking the boxes against requirements. You have an opinion on what features and technological improvements are the most valuable for the business.

You know how to trade off quick and dirty vs doing it right the first time. You don’t just ship the releases, you operate the system.

Your technological focus is on Node.js API and backend development. You know SQL well. You are proficient with React and all the basics of HTML/CSS for frontend development. You have enough experience across the entire stack to jump into whatever is necessary, even if it takes some time to ramp up: from CI/CD and infrastructure to making analytics-driven product decisions with anything in between.

Must-haves

• Javascript — unquestionable mastery
• Typescript — comfortable with generics and conditional types
• Node.js — blocking vs. async, modules, frequently used APIs, etc
• SQL, preferably Postgres flavor — data types, joins, indexes, CTEs, transactions, locking; can read a query plan with some googling
• React — hooks, re-render algorithm, memo
• Enough HTML and CSS to be dangerous — form controls and their behaviors, box model, margin collapse, selectors, precedence, pseudo-classes, media queries

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with REST-like API design.
• HTTP and networking — status codes, caching, CDNs, CORS.
• Bundling — webpack, esbuild, or similar
• CI/CD — principles and Github Actions specifically.
• Infrastructure as code — Terraform, CDK, familiarity with AWS
